A man has been accused of attempting to kill a rival gang member after he shot him in the hand, according a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
Raymond Massie Jr., 19, of Racine, was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, Aug. 10 with attempted first degree intentional homicide. If convicted, Massie Jr. faces up to 60 years in prison.
Massie Jr., who is also known as “Raymond NFL Massie,” is being held on a $100,000 bond.
According to the criminal complaint, the Racine Police Department responded to a report of a 16-year-old boy being shot July 20 near 13th Street and Lockwood Avenue.
Lasheky Hill, Massie Jr.’s mother told police she had heard that her son had been in a fight between two rival gangs, the “Dirty P” and the “NFL Gang,” which Massie Jr. is a member of. Hill drove around town looking for Massie Jr. and found him sitting on his aunt’s porch. She picked him up and two other people. They drove to the area of Lockwood Avenue and Thirteenth Street where they saw a group of teens, which included girls they knew were from the south side of 13th Street and Lockwood Avenue.
The Racine County District Attorney’s Office has not filed any charges against Hill.
Massie Jr. pulled out a handgun and point it at the boy. The boy then fled westbound on Thirteenth Street. Massie Jr. was about four feet away from the boy when he fired the gun several times.
The boy told police he was walking in the area when a car pulled up and Massie Jr.’s mother jumped out of the car shouting that she would “fight hoes too.” When he saw Massie Jr., the boy saw that he had a handgun. Hearing three shots, the boy ran up to Washington Avenue from Memorial Drive and into a nearby convenience store. Once in the store, the boy realized he had been shot in the hand. While in the hospital, the boy told police Massie Jr. shot him.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 19 in front of Racine County Felony Court Judge John Jude.
