A woman is dead and a man has major head trauma after a motorcycle crash happened at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday on Racine Street at 25th St.

Connie Benitez, 54, of Racine, died at the scene. Michael Brown, 51, of Racine, was taken by Flight For Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee for serious injuries, according to a press release by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Officers arrived within one minute after 911 dispatched the call. The officer found Benitez and Brown seriously injured, but Benitez died “suddenly after the crash.”

Brown is being treated for his injuries, but his condition is not known.

Mount Pleasant Police noted that Benitez and r were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet. The department is still investigating the crash, but alcohol and speed were factors.
