UPDATE 4:35 p.m.: The power has been restored at about 3:20 p.m. after a tree branch snapped a power line at 2801 S. Memorial Drive.

“The incident caused some arcing and sparking on some nearby equipment,” said Brian Manthey, spokesperson for We Energies.

Original story: Over 1,000 We Energies customers are without power as of about 3 p.m. Thursday.

According to We Energies power outage map the south side of Racine and areas near Main and 10th streets have been affected.

Preliminary reports indicate that a transformer exploded near the area of Highway 11 and Highway 32. We Energies crews are on scene, according to scanner traffic.
