Caledonia Fire DepartmentFirefighters from four area departments battled a blaze at a residence located at 6431 Northwestern Avenue at 5:13 p.m. Friday night.

No one was injured, but it took firefighters from Caledonia, Racine, Southshore and Raymond about a half hour to get the fire under control.

Caledonia Fire Department battalion chief Dale Roszina said a preliminary investigation showed that the cause of the fire was electrical in nature.

“We responded to a report of a roof on fire,” Roszina said. “When we arrived we found a working fire up on the second floor.”

At the time of the call, workers had been on the first floor fixing up the older home and had gotten out of the house before firefighters had arrived.

“Our crews didn’t encounter smoke until they got to the second floor, which leads us to believe the fire probably started in the attic,” Roszina said.
