Caledonia Police logoA Caledonia man was charged with assaulting an elderly man by kicking him and dragging him through a parking lot, according to a report by the Caledonia Police Department.

Donald Lockwood Jr, 45, was charged with aggravated battery — elderly person by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office on Jan. 21. If convicted of the charge, Lockwood faces up to six years in prison and/or fined up to $10,000.

According to the criminal complaint, officers from the Caledonia Police Department responded to a report of a woman seeing Lockwood assaulting a relative by pushing him down in a parking lot at his apartment complex in the 4800 block of North Green Bay Road in November.

The elderly man told police that he was pushed down and kicked five times because his relative was upset with him. When the man tried to go to a neighbor’s apartment for help, Lockwood ran over and pulled him away from the door. After pushing him and kicking him, Lockwood then dragged the elderly man back inside his apartment, put him to bed, told him to “stay there and go to sleep.”

The elderly man was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital, and treated for a broken knee cap and a cut to his hand.

A $1,000 signature bond was set for Lockwood, who is expected to appear at a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 5 in front of Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch.
