Caledonia Fire DepartmentAn 18-year-old Caledonia man is facing felony drug charges after he overdosed on heroin, according to a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

Domenic Basile was charged with possession of narcotics, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a controlled substance.

If convicted, Basile faces up to four years, two months in prison and fines up to $12,000.

According to a report by the Racine County District Attorney’s office, Basile overdosed on heroin and was unresponsive when officials from the Caledonia Fire and Caledonia Police departments responded.

Rescue workers administered Narcan, a drug used to counteract the effects of opiate overdose, and Basile started moving and breathing on his own. The Caledonia Fire Department transported Basile to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Hospital. Several used needles, a spoon with black soot, a scale, alprazolam, rolling papers, mariana and a small amount of heroin was found in Basile’s room.

A cash bond of $2,500 was set. Basile is expected to be in court at a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 20 at the Racine County Courthouse.
