Lexi, who would have been 15-years-old on Feb. 7, committed suicide in December. Her family is holding the benefit in conjunction with the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender (LGBT) community of southeast Wisconsin, to honor her memory and to help other teens and families. The proceeds from the benefit will go toward Rogers Memorial Hospital.

According to the Facebook page for the event, Lexi’s mother, Morningstar Lopez wrote:

My daughter took her own life in December, and now we are working on a benefit in her memory to help other teens and their families in Racine, WI. The start of this movement begins with the Lexi Legacy’s: 1st Annual Learn to Live Benefit. I have attached the flyer. Any support for this event would be greatly appreciated, promotion, raffle items, volunteers, rummage sale items, bake sale items, etc. Thank you for reading this.
