Parents of Racine Unified students who want to send their kids to a school different than the one to which they’re assigned have until March 17 to apply for a boundary exception.

Here are the details from the district:

The Racine Unified School District offers an opportunity for families who would like to apply for enrollment at a school other than their boundary area school. Applications for the 2014-2015 school year are available now and will be accepted through Monday, March 17, 2014.

The School Choice and Boundary Exception application is available on the District website here or at the RUSD Enrollment Center (3109 Mt. Pleasant St., Building #1).

Applications must be returned to the Enrollment Center office or via email to enrollment.center@rusd.org by March 17, 2014. Applications will be considered in the order they are received by the Enrollment Center and approved based on space available at the requested school.

Families who are currently using School Choice or Boundary Exception should receive a letter and continuation form in the mail in order to remain on School Choice or Boundary Exception for the 2014-2015 school year. This form is also posted on the District website for current families.

Parents/guardians who select School Choice or Boundary Exception are responsible for transportation to/from school.

The School Choice and Boundary Exception form is not for enrollment at RUSD magnet and charter schools. Please contact the magnet/charter school directly for information about enrollment.

Applications will only be accepted during this enrollment window of Feb. 10 – March 17, 2014. Applications after March 17 will not be considered.
