Looking for the training you need to get a job as a CNC operator? The Racine County Workforce Development Center is accepting applications for its successful CNC bootcamp program partnership with Gateway Technical College.
County Executive Jim Ladwig wrote in a statement that with a rate of 90 percent job placement among graduates, the bootcamp program is successfully fulfilling the needs of area employers and those looking for work.
“Boot Camps consistently produce qualified candidates who possess the skills our local manufacturers are searching for,” he said. “This is evident in the fact that Boot Camp graduates have over a 90% placement rate.”
Workforce Development and Gateway have been partnering since 2005 on various bootcamp-type programs that last an average of 14 weeks. The CNC program is full time, five days a week for 14 weeks and lead to a certificate of completion, college credits, and job assistance for participants. A grant from SC Johnson helps fund the camps.
According to the press release, bootcamp graduates can expect to make $12 an hour for entry level and perhaps up to $19 an hour with experience.
Here are the important dates to mark on calendars:
- Applications are available until Monday, March 17, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
- Applications are due on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
- Applicants must be a resident of Racine, Kenosha, or Walworth County and at least 18 years of age.
- Applicants are responsible for completing the application packet.
