Following a hit and run car crash, a 27-year-old Racine man received his 26th ticket for driving with a suspended driver’s license in the 5100 block of Douglas Avenue at 5:52 a.m. Feb. 24, according to Lt. Gary Larsen, of the Caledonia Police Department.
Yusef Kindle fled the scene in his car just after the crash. A witness followed Kindle, but lost sight of the car in Cudahy. However, they were able to give police the license plate number and a description of the car.
Caledonia Police stopped Kindle later in the day. He told police he was the driver of the car during the crash, but fled “because he was dazed in the accident and also due to a suspended driver’s license.”
“Kindle’s driving record was the worst I had ever seen in my whole career,” Larsen said. “He had been stopped 19 times last year alone. These weren’t just traffic stops where a police officer had checked his plate and realized he was suspended. These were stops involving driving incidents.
Officers issued Kindle traffic citations including operating while suspended (26th offense) and hit and run causing injury. Charges are also being referred to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office for charges.
“Wisconsin Legislators really need to look at making driving with a suspended license a crime,” Larsen said.
