Samuel Jackson

Racine Police Department K9 Dozer helped his human partners take down a kidnapping suspect Sunday on the top floor of the McMynn Parking Garage downtown.

Samuel Jackson, 32, of Buffalo Grove, IL, remains in the Racine County Jail on two counts of obstruction for resisting arrest Sunday while police were trying to take him into custody on suspicion of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from Highland Park, IL.

According to a press release from RPD Monday, Highland Park police contacted Racine police for assistance regarding a 30-year-old woman believed to have been taken against her will by her abusive ex-boyfriend.

Neither the woman nor Jackson has any ties to Racine so it is unclear why they ended up on the top floor of the McMynn Parking Garage at 7th and Main Streets.

According to the criminal complaint, officers located Jackson’s vehicle and the woman at the parking garage. Jackson exited the car and yelled, “Just shoot me,” “Send the dog” and “Come and get me.”

Officers say Jackson continued to resist arrest so K9 Dozer was released and helped bring the defendant under control. Jackson was later treated for a dog bite wound to his left calf.

Highland Park PD obtained a warrant Monday charging Jackson with kidnapping, unlawful restraint and criminal damage to property.

Jackson remains in the Racine County Jail on a $400 cash bond, but is listed under a hold so even if he posts bail, he will not be released.
