A 65-year-old man was charged with stalking by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office for having contact with his former fiance after he violated a restraining order she had against him, according to the criminal complaint.
The Wind Lake man was charged with a felony count of stalking, and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and/or fines up to $30,000.
Prior to the incident, he had been charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and a count of resisting or obstructing an office during a separate incident that happened on Jan. 27. As part of the condition of his bond, he was ordered not to have contact with the woman.
According to the criminal complaint, he called the woman numerous times, emailed her and showed up to her home. Over a 36 hour time frame, the man allegedly called 35 calls. While police were investigating, the man called and police told him he would be arrested if he didn’t stop calling.
On March 1, the man showed up to the woman’s home. The woman told police she believed the man’s behavior was escalating and may hurt her. A week later, the woman told police he had called her 10 more times.
