Mount Pleasant police say a 26-year-old Kenosha man is facing theft charges after he filled up his car with gas from area gas stations and then drove off without paying.

Andrew Jones was charged Feb. 24 with two counts of misdemeanor theft, three counts of felony bail jumping and one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana after he was seen leaving Kwik Trip, 7155 Durand Ave., after getting gas Feb 22 without paying, according to MPPD.

A description of Jones’ car – a red, 2003 Ford Taurus – had been distributed to area gas stations after police were notified of several gas drive-off incidents at the Durand Avenue Kwik Trip and the station on Washington Avenue near I-94.

Mount Pleasant police Sgt. Eric Relich said in a written release that Jones’ car was reported by employees at the Durand Avenue Kwik Trip and Jones was found a short time later.

Online court records indicate that Jones entered a not guilty plea on March 6, and he has a pre-trial conference on April 25. He was released March 3 on a $750 cash bond.
