A Milwaukee man was charged after he allegedly sold stolen computers for money, according a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
Corey Broady, 39, of Milwaukee, was charged with receiving stolen property by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office on Monday.
If convicted, Broady faces up to two years nine months in prison and/or up to $10,000 in fines.
According to the complaint, an officer with the Caledonia Police Department responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle at 9:28 a.m. May 13 at a residence in the 8800 block of Dunkelow Rd.
The homeowner told police that his laptop and camera were taken from his unlocked car, which was parked in the driveway. After speaking with Mt. Pleasant Police, the Caledonia officer learned that several other similar thefts had happened there and they had recovered the stolen property from the theft in Caledonia.
The computer had been sold to CompCell in Milwaukee by Broady, according to the compliant. A cash bond for Broady was set at $300. He’s expected to be in court for a pre-trial conference at 3:15 p.m. April 10.
