The annual Racine Unified candidate forum begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Starbuck Middle School.
Hosted by the Racine PTA Council, the forum gives RUSD community residents the opportunity to ask the candidates questions. There are seven residents running for four seats on the Board of Education.
Typically there are three seats open in any given year, but the resignation of former board member Gretchen Warner last fall open up an additional seat. Wally Rendón was appointed to fill Warner’s seat, but only until the next election.
Incumbents Pamela Handrow, Melvin Hargrove, and Dennis Wiser are all running to retain their seats, and Rendón is as well. Challengers Thoman Fineran, Henry Perez, and Jacqueline Pinager will also be on the ballot April 1.
The candidate forum is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Starbuck Middle School, 1515 Ohio Street.
