Globe Contractors of Pewaukee was awarded the $6.5 million contract in April at a joint meeting of the Village Board and the Caledonia Utility District Commission.

The project included replacing water and sewer lines as well as widening roads throughout the neighborhood, and adding curb and gutter. One of the larger issues was that the road base under the road was substandard and Globe needed to add more stone to the base to support the asphalt, Lui said.

“We knew with a project like this that this might happen and there was no way that we could have known what that base was like under the road,” Lui said.

Since the road was put in, the Caledonia Utility District has also been televising, cleaning and re-lining the pipes. The last course of asphalt for the project is expected to go down in May or June.
