Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant trustees Monday will discuss the 2013 budget deficit and are also expected to approve a survey map to help clear a hurdle for the village’s newest business park at Highways 20 and V.

As expected, Mount Pleasant’s 2013 budget went thousands of dollars over budget in part because overtime in the South Shore Fire Department totaled nearly $600,000 – $350,000 over the $238,000 budgeted. The village was also penalized with a reduction of state transportation aids for a late audit in 2012.

Additionally, board members will also consider the Planning Commission’s recommendation for approval of a survey map that outlines where the first building of a new business park will go.

The first building is expected to measure 132,000 square feet and will have the capability of housing either a manufacturing company or a distribution/warehouse operation. Plan Commission members approved both the building’s final site plan and a modified survey map that reduces the size of the parcel for the building.

A total of 60 acres is slated for development at the corner of Highways 20 and V by Land and Lakes Development from Park Ridge. Trustees approved the business park earlier this year.

The Mount Pleasant Village Board meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive. Call (262) 664-7800.
