Racine police are actively investigating the shooting death Saturday of 21-year-old Dulonden Ratliff, of Kenosha.

Officers responded at 1:16 a.m. to the 300 block of Main Street for a report of shots fired. When police arrived, they found Ratliff bleeding from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s for treatment, but he was pronounced dead.

Our friends at Racine Uncovered are reporting the shooting happened outside a downtown bar.

The Journal Times is quoting Doug Nicholson, owner of Envi at 316 Main Street, as saying witnesses informed the doorman at envi of the shooting and personnel called 911.

But, on the Racine Uncovered News Facebook page, readers who say they or someone they know witnessed the event are telling a a different story.

“Yeah, my sister just told me he left envi, pulled out front and got shot in the head,” one person wrote. “I’ve never had problems with that bar in general.”

Ratliff’s name was not immediately released so police could notify family.

Downtown streets in the area remained blocked off Saturday morning, but business owners were being allowed through to their shops.

Chalk markings outside 306 Main Street seem to indicate the exact location of the shooting, the newspaper story continues.

Ratliff’s death remains under investigation as a homicide. We will update this story when we have more information.
