Mount Pleasant police

Mount Pleasant police say a 14-year-old boy sustained non-life threatening injuries after he was struck by a car Monday at Highways 20 and 31.

Officers were called at 3:17 p.m. to the busy intersection by witnesses who reported that a teenager had been hit by a car. When police arrived, they were told the boy was trying to cross the street before the light turned, and he misjudged the speed of traffic.

The boy was transported to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s for treatment of his injuries. The driver was determined to not be at fault so police did not issue any citations.
