A 27-year-old Caledonia man was charged with a felony count of bail jumping after he threatened to kill his mother and her boyfriend, according to a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
If convicted, the man faces up to six years in prison and/or fines up to $10,000.
According to the criminal complaint, the man was charged with disorderly conduct, violating a restraining order, and felony bail jumping in a separate case involving his mother and her boyfriend. The man was court ordered not commit any new crimes and not to have any contact with his mother, family or residence.
But on Saturday, the man’s grandmother called his mother because he threatened to kill her and her boyfriend. He said he would kill them by tying them to “the bumper of a truck” and dragging them “until they were dead.” The man also told his grandmother that he was facing time in prison and “if he was going down he was bringing his mother with him.”
The man’s grandmother, who was letting him stay with her, was upset and called the man’s aunt and told her what her nephew had said. Concerned about the man’s mother’s welfare, the two called the police.
The man is expected to have a preliminary hearing on April 17 in Racine County Felony Court.
