Congratulations are in order for several Racine Unified students who received Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Established in 1923, this prestigious competition is the longest running art and writing competition for teens and is the largest source of scholarships for creative students in grades 7 – 12. Past recipients of these awards include Robert Redford, Joyce Carol Oates, Stephen King, and John Updike.
Students submit their work and the pieces are judged blindly by experts in their field. Students can earn a Gold Key (Outstanding Merit), a Silver Key (Strong Merit) or an Honorable Mention (Potential).
