A student at Case High School was charged after he got into a fight with a girl at school on the day he had been released from jail, according to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
Montanez Miller, 17, of Racine, was charged with disorderly conduct, and two counts of felony bail jumping by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office on Friday.
If convicted on all charges, Miller faces up to 12 years three months in prison and/or fines up to $21,000.
He had been in jail for for bail jumping, and a robbery and child abuse case from November.
According to the criminal complaint, Miller got into a physical fight with a classmate on Thursday at Case High School, 7345 Washington Ave., after being released from jail on two open felony cases.
A police officer at the school saw Miller and another student verbally fighting between the third and fourth class hours. Initially, Miller walked away from the girl, but the two started verbally fighting. The girl then swung at Miller with a fist and hit him in the face. Miller then “physically assaulted” the girl.
Miller, who was charged as an adult, is being held on a $5,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for Miller at 9 a.m. April 23 at the Racine County Courthouse.
