Anderson-1Pro-wrestler and Wisconsin native Ken Anderson will be among several fighters going at it in the ring at the TNA Impact Live show on Saturday at Racine Civic Centre Memorial Hall, 72 7th St.

Born in Wisconsin Rapids and raised in Two Rivers, Anderson is looking forward to coming back home.

He started wrestling when he was 20, now he’s 38.  He’s gotten to travel around the world and has met amazing people, but he loves the connection he has with his audience and dishing up what he calls smash mouth-style wrestling.

“My favorite move is really just a straight right punch,” Anderson said. “I mean why go to all of the work of doing a back flip on top of someone when you can just punch the guy… right?”

Anderson admits there’s a lot of storytelling and acting that goes into putting on the show, but there’s a lot less planning than people think when it comes to what actually happens in the ring.

“A lot of it just happens on the fly,” he said. “You learn to adjust and you just can’t plan for everything so you let it happen.”

But even more than that, Anderson loves the stories he gets to tell and he’s always been into sports and acting. He started watching wrestling in college because his roommates watched it and he thought it was a great blend of all of the things he loved.

“I just love the fast action and the entertainment, but you do get beat up a lot,” he said. “But when I come out from behind the curtains and I hear that crowd boo… it’s an amazing feeling. Even if they are feeling that way. If it’s a good solid boo, I’m alright with that because to me… boos are like cheers.”

Anderson is looking forward to fighting Bobby Roode, a Canadian wrestler, that he’s only had a few occasions to fight.

Racine Civic Centre executive director Rik Edgar said that they used to have TNA shows at Memorial Hall several years ago, but now they are back.

“It’s a great show, they interact with the audience a lot and the kids get to meet with the wrestlers and they sign autographs… they are very fan friendly,” he said.
