Enjoy a beer (or two), see the stars, celebrate National Train Day and do a little running! It’s all happening in Racine County this weekend.

Beer here!  Like beer? This Belle City Brewfest has it at Festival Park, 5 Fifth St., from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Unlimited samples of more than 100 beers and ciders plus the offerings of home brewers. General admission is $35 and includes a 2-ounce souvenir sampling cup, beer seminars, games and music from Bella Cain. Designated drivers are $10. Visit

Scan the skies on Saturday.  Another sure sign of spring is the Racine Astronomical Society’s Spring Astronomy Day at the Modine-Benstead Observatory, 112 63rd Drive, Yorkville, on Saturday. Drop by from 3 to 6 p.m. for solar viewing or from 8 to 11 p.m. to view stars and planets. It’s free; donations are welcome. Please call ahead to check on weather conditions. 262-878-2774. Visit

Walking for success.  YWCA Southeast Wisconsin invites you to The Power Walk for Dress for Success on Saturday at Regency Mall, 5540 Durand Ave. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m. Please use the mall’s northeast entrance. It will be held inside in case rain. The cost is $10; $15 for an adult and a child. “Virtual” walkers are welcome for a $10 donation. The event supports Dress for Success, a program that provides professional clothing and support for job-seeking women. Register at or call 262-898-5530.

Fun in the outdoors.  Have some outdoor fun and support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin. The Smore Fun 5k Run and Walk is at 9 a.m. Saturday at Jellystone Park, 8425 Highway 38, Caledonia. It includes a t-shirt, a finisher’s medal and a $10 campground voucher. The entry fee is $30. Trains, trains, trains.  Celebrate National Train Day on Saturday at the open house hosted by the Tri-County Model Railroad Club and the Union Grove Model Railroad Club. It runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Vine Street Crossing, 1010 Vine St. (one block west of Main). There are two large train layouts where trains will be running all day. Free admission. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

A run for Mom.  Get some exercise before brunch on Sunday. The Mom’s Day 5k starts at 9 a.m. at North Beach near the Kids Cove play area. The fee on race day is $35. The event supports the Racine Urban Garden Network. Visit or call 877-651-2440.
