K9 Officer Nox with the Racine County Sheriff Department will now have an extra layer of protection when he’s out trying to find bad guys thanks to the REAL School.

And now, so will a number of other police K-9 units.

The Caledonia school raised funds to buy a stab/bullet proof vest for Nox – the most recent addition to the RCSD K9 unit – by participating in McDonald’s McTeacher’s Night and by selling dog cut-outs for the students to decorate through the school’s BETA club.

Once the group had the money raised, the REAL School partnered with Wisconsin Vest-A-Dog to make the purchase to give Deputy Clemens, Nox’s partner.

During the check presentation ceremony, the Sheriff’s Department gave REAL School principal Curt Shircel a plaque to honor the school’s effort. David Jones, director of operations for McDonald’s Restaurants told the group that he would buy a vest every year for the K-9 units.
