Picture 29A Mount Pleasant man was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with a number of drug charges after police suspected the man of selling drugs from a hotel room.

Emannuel Beachem, 37, was charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, three counts of manufacturing/delivering cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, manufacturing/delivering marijuana and resisting arrest.

If convicted, Beachem faces up to 103 years in prison and/or fined up to $215,000.

According to the criminal complaint, a confidential informant  bought cocaine and marijuana from Beachem at the Riverside Inn, 3700 Northwestern Ave., on Thursday. When officers from the Racine Police Department went to the hotel, they found Beachem in bed with a woman. He had baggies containing 89 rocks of crack cocaine in the bed with him.

Several other large chunks of crack cocaine, a digital scale, a plate, razor and several hundred plastic baggie remnants were found in the room. Beachem also had $846 in cash on him.

Beachem told police he was a drug dealer and that he didn’t have a job. He used the cash from the drugs to rent the room at the hotel. While waiting for him to be processed at the jail, Beachem told an investigator: “You might as well just wait for me to come out because I’m going to do the same thing again.”

Bail has been set for $100,000. Beachem is set to have a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. July 17.
