Friends of the family who lost their home on Glendale Avenue Thursday are asking for the community’s help providing some basics while the damage to their home is repaired.

Matt Snorek set up a gofundme.com account asking for donations of both money and certain items for both the two- and four-legged members of the family. Sadly, one of the family’s cats did not survive the blaze.

Racine firefighters were called shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday to a home in the 2800 block of Glendale Avenue for a report of a structure fire, according to our friends at Racine Uncovered.

Greg Keyes – Snorek’s friend – was taken to the hospital for burn injuries, but Keyes’ wife was not at home at the time of the fire.

The fire was under control and extinguished by 1:30 a.m. and is under investigation.

In the meantime, Snorek is asking for, “home items, clothing, non perishable foods, pet food, or financial donations.” The total fundraising goal is $10,000.
