Racine County Sheriff

Racine County Sheriff Deputies say a female driver led them and Wisconsin State Troopers on a chase on I-94 that reached speeds over 100 miles per hour.

According to a release from the RCSD, deputies observed a car northbound on I-94 near Highway C being driven by a woman they’d warned not more than 30 minutes earlier to not drive because she had a suspended license. She was warned she’d be arrested if she continued to drive.

Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver took off, leading two deputies and two state troopers on a chase through Racine County that reached speeds of over 100 mph. At one point, deputies noted, the woman held her cell phone out the window.

The driver finally exited at 7-Mile Road and pulled into a gas station where she was arrested. Deputies transported her to the Racine County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding an officer; reckless driving; failure to obey officer; operating vehicle after suspension; speeding in a work zone – 100 mph in a posted 55 mph construction zone.
