Caledonia Police logoTwo people were injured and taken to the hospital following a two-car crash that happened at about 12:53 p.m. Tuesday on Five Mile and Nicholson roads.

Eugene Roeder, battalion chief for the Caledonia Fire Department, said an SUV struck a van, the van rolled over and ended up in a filed.

“Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles,” Roeder said. “The driver of the van was taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. The other driver was transported to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints.”

Judging by how the vehicles ended up, the SUV was headed east bound on Five Mile Road and the van had been traveling southbound. Extricating the drivers took quite a bit of time, Roeder said.

Police are still investigating and looking into whether a utility truck may have obstructed the view of the driver, according to a story in the Journal Times.
