Mount Pleasant Police Car

Mount Pleasant police say a 51-year-old Kenosha man who threatened to kill himself Sunday afternoon surrendered peacefully without harming himself or others.

Friends of the man called police shortly after noon Sunday to the parking lot of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in the 6400 block of Spring Street, according to MPPD.

When police arrived, they found the man sitting in his truck with a gun. An officer made contact with the man and convinced him to give up his weapon and surrender to police.

Rescue crews from South Shore Fire Department transported the man to Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s for treatment.

Spring Street between Newman and Sunnyslope was shut down during the incident but no homes were evacuated, and the public was not in danger.
