Caledonia police chief Toby Schey will give a report on heroin use in Caledonia after the village board asked for information about recent heroin-related incidents in the village, including several overdoses, and deaths.
Four people have died from heroin-overdoses in Caledonia this year, said captain Dan Warren as he poured through pages of heroin-related calls that had happened over the years.
“We’ve also seen a number of calls that are property thefts related to heroin use,” he said.
Earlier this month, Scott Boll, 36, of Caledonia, explained to the judge how heroin controlled him, to the point where he sold the drug in Walgreens, 1920 Douglas Ave., and at a Piggly Wiggly, 3900 Erie St. Boll was sentenced to three years in prison for one count of delivering heroin, according to the Journal Times.
Boll was charged after another Caledonia man overdosed from the heroin, which Boll allegedly delivered to Jeff Exner, 34, of Caledonia, and Shawn Pulda, 28, of Caledonia.
Last month Martin Gorst, 24, of Caledonia, overdose on heroin and was charged with possession of narcotic drugs.
Schey will give the report to the Caledonia Village Board at a special meeting, which is set to begin at 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at the East Side Community Center, 6156 Douglas Ave. However, the topic will be discussed at about 6:45 p.m. after another agenda item.
