Mount Pleasant police are asking for the public’s help finding a puppy they say was stolen at knifepoint over the weekend.

According to a post on the MPPD Facebook page, a woman Saturday was walking her 5-month-old German Shepherd puppy at 8:17 p.m. near Maryland Avenue and Oregon Street when she was approached by two male suspects pulled up in a red car and displayed a knife. They demanded money, and when she said she didn’t have any cash, they grabbed the dog and fled westbound.

The car was described as small, newer and red with tinted windows and license plates that could have the number “5” and the letter “R.”

The suspects were described by the woman:

Passenger: black male in his early 20’s, approximately 5’9” tall, clean shaven, short hair wearing a red hat, dark shirt and blue jeans.

Driver: black male in his early 20’s, approximately 5’8” tall, thin build, wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.
