Stuff the Bus is Thursday!

To help Racine Unified students start school with the supplies they need to succeed, Johnson Controls is organizing a Stuff the Bus drive from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Case, Horlick and Park high schools.

Steve Schonert, solutions sales account executive at Johnson Controls, told WISN 12 News that he is aware of the high unemployment in the region and knows teachers who spend their own money to get classroom necessities into the hands of students.

I’ve got a couple of friends that are teachers, and they spend a lot of their money buying stuff,” he said. “Supplies becasue the students just don’t have the ability to purchase that themselves.”

RUSD Spokesperson Stacy Tapp said the district is working with company officials on how to collect donations.

They will deliver the supplies they collect to us on Thursday and then the District will work with the schools to determine where the supplies are needed,” she said in an email to Racine County Eye.

In addition to paper, pencils, markers, crayons and colored pencils, there’s also a need for hand sanitizer, tissue and sealable plastic baggies in various sizes.

Drop-off locations are available Thursday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.:

Horlick High School, 2119 Rapids Drive
