Caledonia village administrator Mark Janiuk announced that he plans to retired on April 30, 2015 after being with the village for two years.

Citing health issues as the reason for the decision, Janiuk4128cda034d30a1e02b3cfeffb31db59 made the announcement at the village board meeting on Monday night.

“It is always difficult to make a decision to retire,” Janiuk said. “The last two plus years have been a wonderful time for me. But lying in the ER with wires connected to one’s chest and one’s heart beating like a tom-tom causes one to pause and think about the future.”

Janiuk, who is set to have a heart-related procedure next week, told the board that he wanted to give them as much time as possible to find a replacement.

The village board members thanked Janiuk for his service.
