What you wear on Monday can be an easy choice; just pull on a blue shirt to show your support to end and prevent bullying.
Initiated by the Stomp Out Bullying organization, the Go Blue campaign has the support of business leaders across the country and is supported by celebrities in public service messages. The site includes information for both kids and adults – including parents and educators – about bullying and cyberbullying and how to seek help, be helpful, and creating a culture where bullying is not just unacceptable, but is reported and has consequences.
Bullying here in Racine County is real and serious. Horlick High School student Lexi Lopez, 14, committed suicide last year after being bullied by other students because of her sexual orientation. Lexi’s mom, Morningstar Lopez, started The Lexi Legacy: Learn to Live to help other people – especially teens – suffering from depression to not think suicide is the only way out.
Anyone participating in Go Blue should use “#GOBLUE2EndBullying2014” in Facebook and Twitter posts to help call even more awareness to this issue.
