Racine County Deputy District Attorney Tricia Hanson announced Monday that she will run for Racine County Circuit Court, Branch 6. The election is April 7, 2015.
Judge Wayne J. Marik is retiring next summer.
“It has been my pleasure to serve the people of Racine County for the last 19 years as a prosecutor. I have spent the majority of that time in the courtroom, watching and learning from a wide variety of talented Judges,” she said in her written statement. “Now I am ready to continue my service and use my courtroom experience as a Judge for Racine County.”
Hanson was in private practice for two years and has been a prosecutor since 1996. In her statement, she points out that she has worked in every “criminal and juvenile court in Racine County, including the protection of children, protection of the elderly, and serious felonies including homicides.”
Hanson has two middle-school aged children with her husband, Mike Gabbey, who is a firefighter with the City of Racine.
