An 85-year-old Caledonia man who had been missing for almost 12 hours was found in Whitley, Indiana at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Lt. Gary Larsen, of the Caledonia Police Department.
Francis Olley, who had suffered a concussion last year, was still feeling the effects of the injury. Having been last seen at 5 p.m., officials with the department put out a Silver Alert for area officers to be on the look out for Olley at 11:37 p.m. Tuesday.
The Silver Alert program, which started in August, works for adults with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other cognitive impairments much the same way the Amber Alert works for missing children.
“We got a call at the department at 4:30 a.m. this morning saying that Olley was found safe in Whitley, Indiana by police there,” Larsen said. “The silver alert was canceled and the family was notified. They were thankful.”
