Drivers rejoice! The traffic lights at Ohio Street and Washington Avenue are on and working as they should.

As promised by Jonathan Worden, traffic technician with the City of Racine, the lights are fully operational prior to the Christmas holiday. The signals were actually back mid-afternoon Monday.

The control cabinet for that intersection was totaled in an accident Dec. 13, and it took about a week for a new one to be built and another day or so to install it. Because the power source was “annihilated,” according to Worden, the intersection was dark during the busiest time of the year.
