Regency MallThe JC Penney store in Regency Mall, 5900 Durand Ave., will be closing for good in early April, a store employee confirmed.

Employees were told in November that the store will be closing because the building at 5900 Durand Ave. was sold. 

JC Penney Properties Inc., JC Penney’s real estate management company, owned the building and listed the 150,000 square foot building for $2.5 million in July. Penny Racine LLC, an affiliate of Northbrook, Ill-based Learsi & Co., bought the property for $2.2 million in November.

Under state law, companies  that employ 50 or more people in the state are required to give 60 days notice before a mass layoff or closing.
