Valentine heart

We’re halfway through the month! This weekend, you’ll find things to do with your Valentine, including a fun run, live comedy, fund-raisers and more. Enjoy this Racine County weekend.

Starting Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day and the Racine area’s running season kick off with the Be Mine 5k on Saturday at 207 Gaslight Circle. The run gets under way at 10 a.m. All runners get a color-coded hoodie that shows their romantic status. The $35 registration fee also includes a finishers medal and a post-run beverage at the Chancery. Register at www.cupids5k.com

Ride that crazy bus. What has three buses, 16 nightspots and thousands of beads? It’s the 13th Annual Mardi-Crawl in Downtown Racine this Saturday evening. Just $3 gets you a ride on the shuttle among the nightspots from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. There are food and drink specials all evening. Visit at least six stops to be entered in the grand prize drawing, which will be held at 8 p.m. next Tuesday (Fat Tuesday, by the way) at Ivanhoe Pub & Eatery.

Dinner and a show. The Cotton Exchange, 345 Hickory Hollow Road, Waterford, presents a prime rib buffet followed by two comedians on Saturday night. Pat McGann, creator of the “Chicago Stand Up Project” is the headliner. He’s joined by Ken Savala. Doors open at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $45. Reservations at 262-534-9291

A pair of fund-raisers. Choose from among two Saturday night fund-raisers at Infusino’s Banquet Hall, 3325 Rapids Drive. The Valentine Ball and Dinner, hosted by the Racine Businessman’s Association with South Gate Lodge No. 6, is at 5 p.m. This event raises money for $500 scholarships for area high school seniors. Tickets are $30 per person, $55 per couple or $240 for a table of eight. Black tie attire is suggested. Advance tickets at 262-880-4718. The Hand Embracing Hearts fund-raiser to benefit the Charis Bible College student missions trip starts at 6 p.m. This alcohol-free event includes dinner, a dessert table and dancing. Tickets are $40 or $280 per table. Call 262-960-9864.

Let’s play two. Racine’s Premier Basketball League team, the Racine Storm, has two home games this weekend at Case High School, 7345 Washington Ave, Mount Pleasant. The Storm, undefeated at home, host the Lima Express at 7 p.m. Saturday. Then, on Sunday the Storm host the Danville Riverhawks. Tipoff is 6 p.m. at Case High School gym. Tickets are just $5.
