Racine police say a 40-year-old man accused of holding a mirror underneath a woman’s dressing room door at Kohl’s last month is charged with doing the same thing to another woman last fall.
Bryan Miller, of Mount Pleasant, was charged Wednesday in Racine County Circuit Court with one misdemeanor count each of invasion of privacy and disorderly conduct, both as a repeater. If convicted, he faces up to a year in prison and/or up to $11,000 in fines. Because he is considered a repeat offender, the judge for his case has the option of tacking on more time to whatever sentence he might receive.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called last November to JC Penney at Regency Mall for a report of a man who put a mirror under a woman’s dressing room door while she was trying on pants. The woman said she exited the dressing room and witnessed a white man of medium height and build walking quickly away. Store security confirmed that a man wearing a black puffy coat and jeans did walk quickly away from the women’s fitting room area and exit the store into the mall.
Police say Miller was arrested in February for doing the same thing to an off-duty police officer at Kohl’s, and the woman from the November incident at JC Penney confirmed Miller’s identity when she picked his photo out of a lineup.
When officers questioned him in the Racine County Jail about what happened at the mall, Miller admitted that he’s been looking at women in dressing rooms on and off for years, but he stressed that he does not look at children, the complaint reads. Miller told police he does use a small mirror to look under dressing room doors at Kohl’s, but there was the possibility that he visited JC Penney last fall, but details were hazy because he was taking “large amounts of” Percocet and Vicodin because of a shoulder injury.
Miller remains in the Racine County Jail on a $500 cash bond for this incident and a $300 cash bond for the February incident. His pre-trial conference on both sets of charges is March 19.
