Mount Pleasant resident Charles Goodremote was chosen Monday to fill a vacancy on the Racine Unified Board of Education.

School board Vice President Chris Eperjesy is leaving his post – and his job at Twin Disc – for a move to Minnesota to head up Arctic Cat.

Goodremote, 56, is the Chief Information Officer at Modine Manufacturing and was chosen after school board members interviewed four candidates at the school board meeting Monday, a story in The Journal Times reads.

“I’ve had a lot of success in business and it’s time for me to give back,” Goodremote told the newspaper. “Hopefully my business skills and decision-making skills can enhance the board.”

The other candidates up for consideration were Bryn Biemeck, who is on the ballot for school board on April 7; Brian O’Connell, city development director with the City of Racine; and Adrienne Moore, assistant state public defender, the story continues.

He will serve out the remainder of Eperjesy’s term that expires in April 2016, and Goodremote can decide to run to retain his seat.
