The South Shore Fire Department’s chili cook-off last month for the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation, Inc. Burn Camp raised a total of $3,200.

Firefighter James Davis presented the check Monday to a representative from the PFFW Charitable Foundation during the Mount Pleasant village board meeting.

Families do not pay anything for their kids to attend the camp, which is supported completely by donations.

“Raising this money means that we are able to help send kids to camp without any worry financially to their families,” Davis said after the meeting.

The 2015 event came together quickly but was wildly successful. Davis is already planning a 2016 event and hopes to make it even bigger and better than this year.

“We will be running the chili cook off next year and hope to top our attendance and the number of competitors entered,” he added. “We are Racine’s largest chili cook off and we hope to maintain that title.”

Cooks and supporters should mark Feb. 20 on their calendar for the 2016 event.
