The Kiwanis Club of West Racine will celebrate “Kiwanis One Day” on Saturday, April 11 by leading a collection for the Hospitality Center, an outreach ministry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church that provides service to homeless and near homeless people.

The community is invited to donate bottled water, coffee, creamer, sugar and disposable goods such as cups, plates, napkins, plastic forks, spoons and knives. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

Items may be dropped off at the Racine Christian School, 912 Virginia St. (corner of Kinzie Avenue and Virginia Street), from 9 a.m. to noon. Kiwanis volunteers will be on hand to assist with the donations.

The Kiwanis Club of West Racine is joining thousands of other Kiwanis-family clubs around the world as part of Kiwanis One Day, a global day of service. The 2015 Kiwanis One Day takes on extra meaning as Kiwanis celebrates its 100th anniversary. Kiwanis started in 1915 as a business professionals club in Detroit but quickly adopted serving the community as its focus.

The Kiwanis Club of West Racine meets Wednesday mornings at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints. For more information on the club and its service activities, please contact club president Karen Verbeten at 262-994-8064.
