A man accused of being part of an armed robbery who was recently apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Minnesota made an initial appearance in Racine County Felony Court on Thursday, April 9.
Dajuan Bogan, 18, of Racine, was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with armed robbery (party to a crime), possession of a firearm by a felon, and three counts of recklessly endangering safety, using dangerous weapon.
Bogan, who was arrested April 4 by the U.S. Marshals in Minnesota, is being held on a $75,000 bond, which was set in court on Thursday, April 9.
If convicted, Bogan faces up to 86 years in prison, and/or fines up to $200,000. A second and third suspect have not been charged in the case.
According to a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office, Bogan and two other men, who wearing masks, entered the High Street Food Mart, 704 High St., on Dec. 9.Two of the men brandished guns.
Yelling at several staff to get down on the floor, a witness told police that one of the men went into the back room and another walked behind the counter to take money out of the cash register and took cigarillos from behind the counter.
One of the workers told police he heard a commotion in the front of the store. When he came out of the room, one of the suspects pointed a gun at him, yelled at him not to move and made him get down on the ground.
Stealing over $1,100 in cash, the men fled the area in a car.
Investigators learned that three men were seen walking into the store. Two of the men had guns, the third man carried a backpack used during the robbery and appeared to have taken the money and cigars.
A preliminary hearing was set for Bogan on April 15 in Racine County Felony Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch.
