Racine County Sheriff’s deputies say several suspects are in custody after a high speed chase that started in Franklin ended in the City of Racine.
At 4:11 a.m. Tuesday, county dispatch received word that Franklin police were in pursuit of armed robbery and carjacking suspects on I-94. The car was entering Racine County and speeds accelerated to more than 100 mph.
A woman who was loading groceries into her car at the Franklin Walmart on 27th Street was approached by the suspects who demanded her keys, according to a story from WISN 12 News. When the suspects couldn’t find the woman’s keys, they started beating and kicking her.
The woman was left on the ground and was later treated for minor injuries.
The group fled the scene in a minivan and were followed by police. The driver tried to get away by taking I-94 into Racine County, leading police from several local agencies to the corner of 14th and Main Streets where six people – three adults and three juveniles – were arrested, the story continues.
