Members of the city Plan Commission and Common Council June 16 will hear resident comments and concerns about a proposed CVS Pharmacy.
The new store has been designed for the corner of Ohio Street and Washington Avenue. To move forward with the project, city officials would have to approve rezoning some properties from residential to commercial and amend Racine’s comprehensive plan.
To take up those issues, first there has to be a public hearing as required by state statute.
Commissioners voted 3-2 earlier this month to deny CVS’ plan to build a 13,000 square foot store on the southeast corner of the intersection, but the City Common Council voted to send the project back to the commission to schedule a required public hearing.
Commissioners Wednesday set the public hearing for 7 p.m. June 16 in Room 205 at City Hall, 730 Washington Avenue, according to a story in The Journal Times.
After the public hearing, alderpersons will vote again on whether or not to move forward with the zoning and comprehensive plan changes.
