Racine County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Brian Zimmerman will represent Wisconsin law enforcement August 2 at the final leg of Guardian of the Flame Torch Run for Special Olympics.
The special occasion will take place in California.
Sheriff Chris Schmaling said in a written release that being the only officer from Wisconsin is an incredible honor for Zimmerman.
“This is an incredible honor to be selected especially chosen as the lone law enforcement representative from Wisconsin,” he wrote. “Law enforcement personnel are selected for this honor by their local Torch Run and Special Olympics program and for their dedication and commitment to the Special Olympics movement.”
Zimmerman has been involved with Special Olympics and the Torch Run for about 22 years.
