The Racine County Courthouse Peregrine Falcon babies were banded Thursday during what has become a tradition on the 10th floor of the building.

Three brothers – named Michael, Arthur and Ernie – looked none too pleased to be the center of attention of the crowd of about 25, but they took their banding without running, like the females did last year.

The names were chosen because of some ties to the community; Michael for Michael Batten of Twin Disc, Arthur for slain Racine police Officer Arthur Herman, and Ernie for the late baseball great Ernie Banks of the Chicago Cubs.

A fourth egg was originally thought to contain a falcon, but it was infertile, Greg Septon from the Peregrine Falcon Recovery Program said.

Thanks to Racine County Eye reader Dave Lui for the information, photos and video.
