UPDATE: Raymond Schweissenger, 57, and James Peterson, 31, were the two men killed in an early morning car crash on Sunday in the 100 block of Main Street, according to a press release by the Racine Police Department.
Racine Police say at 1:37 a.m. Sunday a car was heading northbound on Main when it was struck head on by another vehicle heading south.
All three occupants of the northbound car were taken to the hospital for treatment, but two of them died. The third passenger was taken to Froedtert Hospital.
The driver of the offending vehicle fled the scene but was later apprehended and taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their passenger was also injured.
Racine police traffic investigators, evidence technicians and Wisconsin State Patrol continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
